It's Birthday Month!
Every year I look forward to my birthday. This year, in lieu of cards or presents, I'd love it if you would consider donating to the 620 Project.
My wish is to raise $620 by my birthday, June 20th, for Team Rubicon.
I'm only asking you for $1.
One small, little dollar.
Donating is easy!
Why Team Rubicon?
Last fall I worked on TEDxSanDiego, and was inspired by a talk by Jake Wood, founder of Team Rubicon. He told the story of how, shortly after the massive earthquake struck Haiti, he and a small group flew down to begin helping on January 17, 2010. And so Team Rubicon was born. You can watch the story unfold in Jake's own words below from his talk at TEDxSanDiego:
Don't have time to watch the video...who's Team Rubicon?
You may have heard about them recently on CNN, NBC (to the right), MSNBC, or NPR among others: "Using natural disasters as a bridge between the battlefield and civil service, Team Rubicon - a small group of combat veterans - prove that the drive to serve one's country never goes away."
- NBC Nightly News
What do they do?
"From his combat experiences as a Marine in Iraq and Afghanistan, Jake Wood discovered that he and other vets have developed the perfect skills for service in crisis situations outside of war.
Team Rubicon bridges the critical time gap between large humanitarian disasters and conventional aid response.
We provide vanguard medical care by fielding small, self-sustaining, mobile teams of specially skilled first-responders. To deploy rapidly, we rely heavily on a horizontal command structure, social networking technology, and the employment of local nationals."
I know how hard it is for vets when they return from war, and love what Jake has done.
Giving vets a place to serve once they're done serving.
You're right, they rock!
So what are you waiting for? Donate today.
Thanks so much in advance. :)
