<--Digital Max, Cox's Village IdiotAbout two weeks ago I called Cox Communications and asked if they had any upgrade promos going on (we currently have basic cable plus HD). They said, "Nope, sorry. You have to pay full price if you want standard."
Fair enough. I figure it didn't hurt to ask.
Cut to tonight. I got a pretty sweet flyer in the mail from AT&T U-verse. I went online, and turns out sweet flyer = sweet deal. I thought out of courtesy to Cox, I'd call and give them a chance to match AT&T.
All of a sudden, there was a flurry of, "Well, we'd really like to keep you. Let me see what deal we can put together for you."
WTF? Two weeks ago you said there was nothing, now there's all these magical deals? I said as much to the customer service rep, and this was his reply (I swear to God): "Well it's different now that you want to leave. We have different offers, and two weeks ago when you called you weren't eligible for this offer. Now that you want to cancel, you're eligible."

Again with the WTF? All told, a
fter 47 minutes on hold and an integrity #fail from Cox Cable, it's AT&T 1, Cox 0.
The new U-verse service starts Sunday at Casa DeFrias. For the crappy price we're paying Cox, we get about 180 more channels (including HBO).
