As many of you know, John and I departed San Diego yesterday at 4 p.m. for a 5-day cruise to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico. At approximately 10 a.m. this morning, there was an announcement over the loud speaker that our ship, Carnival's Elation, had turned around and was heading back toward San Diego. A passenger took ill and required immediate medical attention. In case it made he news, we just wanted to let you all know it wasn't me (or John).
The U.S. Coast guard did a dramatic air rescue via helicopter (I assume once we were in U.S. waters), and the ship then turned back around and we're sailing back toward Cabo. I applaud the captain and crew for doing such a great job and quick thinking in a time of duress. More cruise news to come once we're back in port Saturday morning.

Hey There,
I was wondering if you knew what the passenger was sick with.
Thank you!
Ryan
That's exciting. I want to know more. I hope that the passenger is ok.
wow. hope the rest of your cruise is great!
Hope you don't come back like that ship filled with all those sick people.
Turns out it was a heart attack, and the person is recovering nicely and is listed in stable condition in a San Diego hospital.
